Woodcut’s Limed Ash Flooring in North House, Armadale

Nestled in Armadale, Melbourne, North House is a modern residential home featuring classic Federation architecture. With three young children, the home’s owners envisioned a space that felt warm and enduring yet practical enough to withstand family life. To bring this vision to life, they enlisted CJH Studio and Manna Architecture, whose renovation approach beautifully bridges past and present.

The Brief

One of the family’s key goals was to preserve the home’s heritage character while introducing fresh, refined elements to support modern living. Central to CJH Studio’s design philosophy was the choice to select materials that balanced aesthetic appeal and durability, in the hope of giving a renewed sense of elegance to every space. The flooring had to act as a neutral foundation for the home that would withstand the high traffic of family life, while giving space for the other design elements to shine.

The Solution: Woodcut’s Limed Ash Flooring

Woodcut’s Limed Ash timber flooring proved to be the ideal choice, aligning perfectly with the project’s objectives. As engineered floorboards crafted from European Ash with a Clean Grade finish and UV Oil, Limed Ash offers the home a soft, smooth profile and a light natural hue. Understated yet elegant, the flooring complements the home’s subtle material palette, creating a calming foundation that connects various areas of the house together—from hallways and living areas to bedrooms and staircases.

The engineered timber floor’s clean lines and minimal knots enhance its versatility, blending effortlessly with both classic and contemporary design features. This timeless aesthetic allowed the CJH Studio team to layer other premium materials, including stunning Signorino engineered stone and French Wash paint, creating a cohesive and inviting environment to last as the family grows.
